"Zade's Roads to You, featuring musicians participating in cultural workshops, elevates the role of music maker to peace maker and cultural ambassador. The tour is a creative step towards building bridges of tolerance and understanding. Zade's enthusiasm, which I first experienced almost 10 years ago in his early days at the Noor Al Hussein Foundation's National Music Conservatory in Jordan, is as unbridled as ever. In those early years he performed in homes in Jordan and later abroad where he used those musical opportunities to promote cross cultural understanding as well. His tour with 30 musicians from 18 countries continues this remarkable journey which we should all support."
Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan
Under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan, Roads to You exists to bring world cultures closer together through youth cultural exchange in musical concerts and workshops throughout the world.
The various members of Roads to You are selected based on their musical merit and leadership potential, as the project seeks to demonstrate cooperation and communication between cultures lost in political polarization. Roads to You, which includes members from all over the world, also includes participants from war-torn regions coming together and working in an atmosphere of trust and team spirit. As such, participants are able to share their talent and heritage with those who have been stranded on the other side of the conflict. Roads to You thus seeks to promote dialogue with "the other side."
Musicians are given the opportunity to participate in cultural exchanges such as guest presentations at various educational institutions, as well as community and civic functions. They are also encouraged to share their touring experience in their home countries. The continuity of this effort will bolster the traditional role of music and musicians across the globe as active peace builders and future community leaders.
Roads to You was launched in May 2006 in partnership with Berklee College of Music, and Seeds of Peace, and sponsored by a host of community organizations including The Barakat Foundation, The Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance at Rice University, The Center for Interfaith Relations in Louisville, KY, and The Mohammad Ali Center, amongst others.
